Dr. Dawn White is creative entrepreneur and engineering executive with extensive experience in technology start-up company formation and financing, advanced manufacturing technology, additive manufacturing, automotive, and contract R&D. She has a continuous record of commercial innovation in a range of materials processing fields, including welding and joining science, metal spray forming, and additive manufacturing. Dawn is currently founder and CEO of Perisense, a sensor and data platform that provides connectivity to manufacturers that operate legacy manufacturing equipment and transforms the data we collect to alerts, dashboards, part counts and customized reporting. She also founded Accio Energy, a wind energy start-up developing non-turbine based, EHD wind energy technology and Solidica, where she invented and commercialized the Ultrasonic Additive Manufacturing process (now available from Fabrisonic, Inc.).
Before starting Solidica, Dr. White worked in a variety of advanced manufacturing research and development roles at Ford, MTS Systems, and the US Army Construction Engineering Laboratory, focusing on welding and joining, tooling and additive manufacturing. Dr. White has a BS and MS in Materials Science and Engineering, and a PhD in Mechanical Engineering from the University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign. She has published dozens of technical papers, and is a productive inventor, having been awarded 27 US and 3 foreign Patents.
